Mauritius, officially known as the Republic of Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. It is located 2000km away towards the southeast of the African continent, east of Madagascar. It includes the main island (also called Mauritius), as well as Rodrigues, Agaléga and St. Brandon. These islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues with nearby Réunion (a French overseas department), are part of the Mascarene Islands. Port Louis, is the capital and largest city. It is located in Mauritius, where most of the population is concentrated. The country spans 2,040 square kilometers and has an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) covering 2.3 million square kilometers.
