The Ambassador of the Islamic
Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Dr. Farid Mamundzay accepted the Honorary
Membership of Global India Business Forum. Prior to this Mr.Naseem Sharifi,
Consul General of Afghanistan, and Mr. Abdul Nafi
Sarwari, Commercial Attach, Consulate of Afghanistan have also accepted the Honorary Membership, in the
presence of Dr. Jitendra Joshi- Global President, Ms. Deepali Gadkari- Global Coordinator, Mr. Abhishek
Joshi- Global Youth Coordinator. Realizing the strengths of Global India Business Forum and the
Consulate of Afghanistans Mutual Business Association, both parties will work together to encourage
mutual investment, commerce, and economic cooperation, which will be supplemented by information
exchange, training, certification, and networking.

ABOUT Afganisthan
Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, also called Afghanistan, is a landlocked country situated between
Central and South Asia. It shares its borders with countries like Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan,
Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. Kabul is the largest city and is also the capital of Afghanistan
and the population of the country stands at 3,89,28,346. The country consists of ethnic communities
like Pashtuns, Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks. The major religion in Afghanistan is Islam and the
country is a unitary presidential Islamic republic. It is also a member of various organisations
like the United Nations, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) among many others.

languages of Afghanistan and bilingualism is quite common there.

industries in the country with many Afghanis coming into the labour market to work for the
construction sector. There are some major projects in line which can help create a lot of
business opportunities. Afghanistan also exports a lot of fruits and nuts to different
countries across the world thus giving international players more business opportunities.
Agriculture is the backbone of the country’s economy. Afghanistan also produces saffron, the
world’s most expensive spice and was ranked as the world’s best saffron by the International
Taste and Quality Institute.
EXPORTS AND IMPORTS IN AFGHANISTAN
Exports in Afghanistan are
expected to reach $691.70 million by the end of 2020; while on the other hand, the
imports are expected to reach $7060.00 million by the end of 2020.
TOP EXPORTS OF AFGHANISTAN
Exports of Afghanistan make up to
20% of the country’s GDP. The top exports are carpets and rugs, which account for 43% of
total exports, followed by dried fruits and medicinal plants. Another equally important
item exported is saffron, which is considered as one of the best quality saffron in the
world. The main export partners are Pakistan, India and Russia.
TOP IMPORTS OF AFGHANISTAN
On the other hand, the main items
imported by Afghanistan are Petroleum, which accounts for 33% of the total imports,
followed by machinery and equipment and base metals and related articles. The country’s
main import partners are Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Iran and China.
