Global India Business Forum had hosted a webinar on “Challenges for Higher Education in
India.” The panelists included eminent personalities in the higher education sector like Dr.
YSR Murthy - Founding Vice Chancellor of RV University,Bengaluru; Mr. Nitin Athavle – Member
of Board of Studies at Garware College of Commerce, Pune and head of Deccan Education
Society; Mr. Rakesh Mehta - Director of Astral Education ® Gurugram, Ms. Manavalli Veena -
Founder of Image Station; Pushpendra Kumar Sharma - Founder of Pinaki World, Rajasthan; and
Ms. Sushmita Nande - Faculty in Operations and Supply Chain Management in MES Garware
College of Commerce, Pune, Coordinator BBA-IB department and Head of International Relations
Department. The webinar was hosted by Neelkamal Anchan.
The experts spoke about the need to increase the enrolment in higher education and the need
for private partnership in uplifting the education scene. They shared about employability
and skill gap and how the industry also needs to engage in training the youth. They said
that though the curriculum includes skill development, industries also should come forward
and train them. On the brighter side, India is third largest in student numbers globally,
English is the primary language of education and its traditional teaching methodology is a
USP.
