About Ghana

Ghana, or officially called the Republic of Ghana, is a country situated along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean in the sub-region of West Africa. The country’s land mass is 92,099 sq. mi. and is bordered by the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo and the Gulf of Guinea, along with the Atlantic Ocean. Ghana, in the Soninke language, means “Warrior King”.Ghana’s population stands at 3,10,72,940 in the year 2020 and the population is quite diverse consisting of a variety of ethnic, linguistic and religious groups. Majority of the population of the country is Christian. Ghana enjoys a diverse geographic ecologic structure that ranges from the coastal savannahs to the tropical rain forests. Ghana is a unitary constitutional democracy which has the President as the head of state as well as the head of Government. Ghana’s economic growth has seen a vast and positive change and hence the country has been tagged as a regional power in West Africa. It is a member of a number of organisations like the African Union, Non-Aligned Movement and Group of 24 (G24) among others.
