ABOUT GHANA

Ghana, or officially called the Republic of Ghana, is a country situated along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean in the sub-region of West Africa. The country’s land mass is 92,099 sq. mi. and is bordered by the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo and the Gulf of Guinea, along with the Atlantic Ocean. Ghana, in the Soninke language, means “Warrior King”.Ghana’s population stands at 3,10,72,940 in the year 2020 and the population is quite diverse consisting of a variety of ethnic, linguistic and religious groups. Majority of the population of the country is Christian. Ghana enjoys a diverse geographic ecologic structure that ranges from the coastal savannahs to the tropical rain forests.\r\nGhana is a unitary constitutional democracy which has the President as the head of state as well as the head of Government. Ghana’s economic growth has seen a vast and positive change and hence the country has been tagged as a regional power in West Africa. It is a member of a number of organisations like the African Union, Non-Aligned Movement and Group of 24 (G24) among others.

EXPORTS AND IMPORTS IN GHANA

The exports in Ghana increased from $1055.60 million in the month of May 2020 to $1175.40 million in the month of June 2020. On the other hand, Ghana’s imports also saw an increase from $897.54 million in the month of February 2020 to $974.65 million in the month of March 2020.

The country mainly exports products like gold, oil, cocoa beans and timber products, followed by tuna, aluminum, manganese ore, etc. The main export partners of Ghana are Netherlands, Burkina Faso, South Africa and the UK.

TOP IMPORTS OF GHANA

Ghana mainly imports industrial supplies, capital and consumer goods and foodstuffs. Other imports of the country are refined petroleum, cars, rice, non-fillet frozen fish and delivery trucks. The main import partners of the country are China, the USA, Belgium, the UK and France.
