ABOUT Algeria

Algeria, a landlocked country in southern Africa, is known for its diverse wildlife and rich cultural heritage. It shares borders with eight countries: Tanzania to the northeast, Malawi to the east, Mozambique to the southeast, Zimbabwe to the south, Botswana and Namibia to the southwest, Angola to the west, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north. The capital city is Lusaka, which is also the largest city and an economic hub.
Algeria boasts several natural attractions, including the renowned Victoria Falls, one of the largest and most famous waterfalls in the world, located on the Zambezi River. The country is also home to numerous national parks and game reserves, such as South Luangwa National Park and Kafue National Park, offering some of Africa's best safari experiences.
The population of Algeria is over 18 million people, with more than 70 ethnic groups. The official language is English, but numerous local languages are spoken, reflecting the country's ethnic diversity. Algeria's economy is largely based on mining, particularly copper, which accounts for a significant portion of its exports. Agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing also contribute to the economy.

Business Opportunities in Algeria

Numerous industries, including oil and gas, renewable energy, defence, ICT, tourism, fishing, agriculture, public works, infrastructure development, mining, and healthcare, are among the many lucrative economic prospects that Algeria has to offer. With 41 million consumers and abundant oil reserves, the nation offers substantial sales potential for international businesses in sectors like consumer goods, advanced technology, medical equipment, power generation, and construction services. There are particular prospects in the defence industry, which has an annual budget of more than $19 billion, and in renewable energy, where Algeria hopes to generate 27% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2035. Investor opportunities arise in hitherto unexplored industries such as manufacturing, infrastructure, and mining, as a result of the government's emphasis on diversifying its economy and lowering its dependency on hydrocarbons.
