ABOUT MALTA

Malta, also known as the Republic of Malta, is a Southern European island country which consists of an archipelago (group of islands) in the Mediterranean Sea. Malta shares its borders with countries such as Tunisia, Italy and Libya. The island nation has a land area of 316 sq.km and has a population of 4,41,543 as of 2020. The capital of Malta is Valletta, which is the smallest capital in the European Union (EU) with a land area of 0.8 sq. km.The national language of Malta is Maltese and English forms the second official language of the country and majority of the nation’s population practices Christianity. Malta gained its independence from the British rule in 1964 and has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and the United Nations since then.
