Georgia is a transcontinental country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. The country is located at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe and shares its borders with countries like Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey. The capital and the largest city of Georgia is Tbilisi.The country has a land area of 69,700 sq. km. and has a population of 39,89,167. Georgia is a unitary parliamentary republic wherein Christianity is the largest community residing in Georgia. The official language of Georgia is Georgian, followed by Abkhazian. Georgian is the most spoken language in the country.Georgia is a developing country and holds the 61st rank on the Human Development Index (HDI). It is a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the GUAM Organisation for Democracy and Economic Development, the WTO, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, etc.It maintains good relations with its neighbouring countries Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia and also maintains political and economic relations with countries like France, Germany, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, etc.Georgia is currently working on becoming a full-time member of the NATO.
