Investment and Business Opportunities in Mauritius
The Global India Business Forum (GIBF), a leading international business chamber in
collaboration with Economic Development Board of Mauritius, had organized a webinar on
November 29th, 2024 for GIBF members, on Investment and Business Opportunities in Mauritius.
Veepre Kureeman, Manager - Asia & Middle East Division, Economic Development Board Mauritius
was the keynote speaker for the webinar that was attended by business leaders from various
sectors who are also GIBF’s members.
Co-founder and Secretary
General of GIBF, Deepali Gadkari introduced the purpose of the webinar while the Founder and
Global President, Dr. Jitendra Joshi informed about GIBF and its objectives.
Veepre Kureeman, Manager - Asia & Middle East Division, Economic Development Board Mauritius
shared an informative presentation on business opportunities in Mauritius. Mr. Kureeman
informed about the Mauritian economy, why one should invest in Mauritius, trade agreements,
and investment opportunities in Mauritius, ease of doing business in Mauritius, the
government’s policies, tax benefits, preferential market agreements, occupation and resident
permits.
He said that Mauritius is
Gateway to Africa and that investment opportunities existed in green technology, light
engineering, real estate, textile and apparel jewellery, medical devices, automotive,
electronics – consumer appliances, automotive, education, healthcare, food and beverages,
renewable resources, infrastructure services, super specialty hospitals, and services. He
also spoke about Mauritius-India CECPA Preferential Agreement – Goods.
“Mauritius is Asia-centric as well as Africa-centric,” he said.
The session was followed
by a question and answer session wherein members got their queries answered satisfactorily.
Mr. Kureeman while answering their queries welcomed the businesspeople to Mauritius.
At the end of the session, Dr. Joshi informed the participants about GIBF’s initiative to
take a business delegation to Mauritius in February-March 2025.
